Sam Williams

Sam Williams is a saxophonist living in Boulder, CO. Well-versed in a variety of musical styles, Sam draws inspiration from many sources and strives for a personal, improvisational and compositional voice. Sam earned a Master's degrees in Jazz Studies and Classical Saxophone performance from the University of Northern Colorado in 2011.

In addition to freelance jazz performances throughout Colorado, Sam plays baritone saxophone in the Hemispheres Saxophone Quartet. He is a member of the Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra, and has performed with Adam Bartczak's Republic and the Colorado Jazz Orchestra. Also skilled in classical music settings, Sam performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 2015, and was the Saxophone Fellow at the Aspen Music Festival for two years.

Sam is currently an affiliate faculty member at Metropolitan State University, and teaches private lessons in and around Boulder. Sam will record an album of original compositions in 2016 with funding from Pathways To Jazz.
